Madeira 2017 – Day 6

East Island Tour
Today we went on a private tour of the East of Madeira which included Wine Tasting! After being picked up from our hotel at 9am, we were taken to the third highest point on Madeira upon which stands a radar installation.

Painted Houses and Lunch
We then went through small villages along the north eastern border and stopped to see a local trout farm and did a short levada walk. Following this we went to see the traditional painted houses before stopping at a restaurant for a three-course traditional Maderian lunch followed by Madeira wine tasting.

Drive back
After lunch we drove along the east coast, took a long walk aroung Eagle Rock (though there are no eagels on Madeira) and visited a sugar can factory that produces honey and rum. Finally we visited the most Eastern point of Madeira before being driven back to our hotel.
