Madeira 2017 – Day 4

4×4 safari of the west of Madeira
We climbed into an old school Discovery and after taking a short break on the beach at Lugar de Baixo, we headed for the hills. As we heded up the mountains we started off-roading on ever steeper roads. Along the way we saw bannana groves and got fantastic views. We went through a series of small villages before stopping for a short levada walk, where we met some cows.

Lunch and swimming
Following this we headed for Porto Moniz where swam in the natural swimming pools and stopped for a traditional lunch.

Traveling back to Funchal
After lunch we jumped back into the 4x4s and headded through Seixal and Sao Vicente. We got to see a fantastic natural rock arch as well as waterfalls and a church built at the top of 175 steps which gave a 360 degree view of the valley below.
